The Edwardsburg Eddies played their third Wolverine Conference game last Wednesday against the Paw Paw Red Wolves. This was shaping up to be a competetive game, both teams having similar scores against a weaker Otsego. The day opened with the Eddies JV dispatching the Red Wolves 8-0, the game ending early due to the mercy rule. Swiftly following was the varsity matchup. The Eddies, led by captains Alex Carfi and Bodi Wegner, opened the scoring early with three goals in the first half. Edwardsburg refused to let up with two more goals after the halftime break, scoring five goals in total in a 5-0 win. The goals came from senior Tye Vargo (3x) junior Alex Carfi and sophomore Gabe Jacobs. The Eddies' next matchup is against bitter rivals Dowagiac at home.
Edwardsburg's Alex Carfi and Grayson Herbert's matchup was not only a soccer match, but a reunion of teammates. Both Eddies play for Kalamazoo Kingdom in the spring, along with Paw Paw's Max Crawford. Post match, Crawford remarked It was great to see some teammmates again, it's been a long time since I've seen the boys. They played great and came out with a well-deserved win. The Eddies, or les bleus as we call them in Paw Paw,have a solid squad this year. I wish them luck in the rest of their season.
The Kalamazoo Kingdom players will reunite this winter as they travel to Tampa for their National League endeavors.
